Not quite sure what this was, but it showed up a couple of weeks ago and just didn’t go away. My friend, a pediatrician, took a look at it and said, “Looks like a spider or tick bite. If you run a fever or anything else weird crops up, you should probably see an adult doctor.”
There have been a lot of spiders (yes, on board) since we left the salt water for the rivers and canals, so I chocked it up to one of those. Should self resolve, right?
Not really. And when the back pains started (only on the side where the rash was), we got a little bit worried. After a couple of sleepless nights due to the pain, we decided I should heed my friend’s advice.
Only problem was that we were in Canada…. Definitely out of network, and not really sure how to proceed. So we went to a walk in clinic.
No Canadian health card? No problem. Forty five minutes later and $45 out of pocket, we were in the doc’s office.

Weird, huh?
Yup. A tick bite. Dang it. Apparently there is quite a problem with lyme disease in Ontario…. mostly in the areas that we have boating around in. Sheesh.
The test for lyme disease was another $20. Antibiotics cost $26.
And we were on our way. Amazing.

Oh no, what did the test say? Get well soon.
Wow, a medical office with a posted price list! I hope that the medication is working and you're feeling better now.
