We bought the darn thing. Now, what do we do with it?
The ultimate goal is to spend a year doing The Great Loop, a 6,000 mile odyssey on the coastal and river waterways of the East Coast. We’re not quite ready for that (logistically or skillwise). We have a lot of learning to do!
Although we live in and registered the boat in Oregon, we bought the boat in Washington, and decided to do our learning there. Between the Puget Sound, the San Juan islands, Vancouver, Victoria, and (maybe someday) Alaska, we could do a lifetime worth of boating from there. Fertile training grounds!
So, we got a slip at Dock Street Marina in Tacoma and started commuting back and forth from Eugene. A week or two at home, then a week or two on the boat… all Summer and Fall and Winter we hope!
Sounds like a grind, but it wasn’t as tough as we thought. Especially with good times like these!
We can anchor anywhere where the water is less than about 50' deep. The trick is finding a calm harbor where we aren't getting tossed around all night.
Since you're in a confined space forever do you have the same exercise program that they have on the international space station?
