Coming in to New York Harbor on a boat is a thrill. The skyline is majestic, the traffic is heavy, and the Statue…. Oh, the Statue. So cool!
We took it all in, docked the boat at Liberty Landing Marina, and hightailed it over to the ferry to catch the next tour of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
Ellis Island was beautiful and impressive and almost too much information to take in with one visit. The history of immigration to the US was fascinating. Millions of people have come to the US over the years, and for so many different reasons…. Religious liberty, fleeing famine, escaping war, looking for a better opportunity for their families…. Sounds a lot like today.
Other than that fantastic, double site tour, we decided not to do any touristy things in the Big Apple, since we’ll have plenty of opportunity to do those things in the future as the kiddo will be living there. Instead, we focused on biking around and spending time with Bill. It was such a nice time!
We ended our time in NYC with bagels (look at that shmear!) and a morning sail on the harbor.
It was calm and scenic and so much fun. Thank you Bill!
