So, after escaping the Big Chute, and surviving a tick bite (yes, it was Lyme Disease, but antibiotics did the trick), we found our way to Atlanta for a few days for a very special wedding.
Atlanta was surprisingly lovely. Our Airbnb was super nice, in a beautiful older neighborhood, within walking distance of Emory University.
We had a couple of days to do touristy things, so our first thought was, “Let’s go to the Center for Disease Control!” Their museum was very modern and artsy, with a mix of static and interactive displays. So interesting! And it was free. Amazing.
The next day we visited the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Not free. But oh so worth it!
The gardens were hosting a special event called Origami in the Garden. Giant folded metal sculptures were scattered all around.
There were children’s gardens and play areas, an elevated boardwalk through the forest, and the largest collection of orchids in the world… 25,000 species!
And to top it all off, there were large bogs of carnivorous plants.
Thirty acres of lush plant life! We walked for hours. Fantastic.
And then there was the wedding! The outdoor venue was lovely, the ceremony and vows were heartfelt and meaningful, and the bride and groom were obviously very happy.
The reception was lots of fun for everyone! Good food, wonderful people, and some great music to dance to. Just look at the groom and his grandmother. Not such a great photograph, but the looks on their faces are priceless….
The whole event was very heartwarming. Really special.
