Choosing a marina is always a bit of a roll of the dice.
We chose to stay at Marineland Florida. Yes, it is the original Marineland, built in 1938 as a studio for underwater motion pictures. Home of Flipper, and the most popular attraction in Florida for years. Today it is a shadow of its former self. They do offer “dolphin experiences” and have some educational talks and exhibits. But it is definitely not what it used to be.
People told us it was great. Right next to the beach. Inexpensive, only $1/ft for a 35ft boat. Others told us that there is a reason it’s cheap. Nothing there. No restaurants, etc.
Everyone has their own sense of what is important and good in life. We are definitely siding with the former.
Here’s how our day started. Such a spectacular sunrise.
Then a fantastic breakfast from a truck at the edge of the sand.
And of course a nice walk on the beach.
And that wasn’t all.
Our mid-day bike ride was incredible. Such lush vegetation.
And a treat at the end of the ride. Lunch at Captain’s BBQ!
What a great day!
Happy Birthday Patty 🎉
What's not to like about all that. Thanks for the update, keep them coming.
