A lot has happened since we left Norfolk….
In the midst of a storm warning, friends joined us on board for a couple of weeks. We were highly motivated to head north up the Chesapeake Bay. So we did.
Although we escaped Norfolk before the really bad weather hit, we ended up “stuck” in Solomons Island in Maryland for a few days. It was not such a bad place to ride out the storm, especially since the Calvert Marine Museum had their open house (free!) while we were there.
And there were other Loopers holed up there, so we wrangled them into a few games of Liar’s Dice!
When the weather let up, the small cities of Chestertown, Saint Michaels, and Oxford welcomed us with charm, history, beautiful architecture, and great food.
Oysters at one place, a Limoncello Blush at another!
Of course, we also had crab cakes, Crab Imperial, crab covered pretzels, and “She Crab” soup. Old Bay on everything of course!
After several days in these cute little towns, we decided to anchor out at Wye Island. Beautiful and peaceful with turtles all around. Dinner on the boat was top notch!
So lovely….
Next stop, Annapolis and Baltimore!
Great post! But..Where’s the Pendleton whiskey in the Liars Dice photo?
