Since starting the loop, we haven’t anchored out as much as we thought we would. Mainly because of weather. It has been unusually windy and rainy with a little bit of thunder/lightning and a tornado warning thrown in to spice things up. This was our first night at anchor, just off of the ICW near Sebastian, FL:
Marinas are easy. They are a little (or a lot) more protected from the elements. The people you meet are lots of fun. The docks have electrical power and fresh water for the boat. There are hot showers and laundry facilities available close to the dock. And marinas are usually in towns with restaurants, grocery stores, and an occasional Target and West Marine. All of the modern conveniences.
Marinas are great. But even more fun than the docks is being out in the wild, at anchor, in a place (hopefully) far from other boats, surrounded by water and the natural world. Sure, you are subject to tides and currents and winds, which can make setting the anchor and keeping the boat in its place a little tricky sometimes. But once the anchor is set, it is like heaven. With only the sounds of birds and the breeze and wavelets lapping at the boat hull, there is a real sense of peace.
And sometimes, you really can get off the beaten path! Like our anchorage here, on New Tea Kettle Creek, GA:
Pretty Cool!
Boat life is looking Inconceivably good on you two.
So is it Ms. Miss or Mrs. Inconceivable? Not sure how boats are named... and do you say that with a lisp?
